πŸΊπŸ‘» Open Studio, Halloween, Belt Philosophy

Aaaawoooo booo!

No Open Studio

Sorry for the late notice, but Open Studio is OFF this weekend! As always, the iCal calendar is kept up to date as much as possible, but you may need to periodically refresh it on your end to see the latest.

Halloween Week

Next week is Halloween! If you want to and can, incorporate your costume with your dobok during classes on Monday and Tuesday.

AND, let me know if you're planning to attend class on Thursday the night of Halloween. So far, it sounds like everyone will be trick-or-treating that night. Either way, be safe and have fun out there!

What Does Your Belt Mean?

There is a philosophy behind each color of our gup belt system, and students should be able to recite these poetic meanings for their current belt and all previous belt colors.

"White represents a primitive stage of achievement, thus the seed as it lies dormant beneath the snows of winter."

The philosophy of the our belt system can be found on page 28 of the gup manual.

It can also be found in Um Yang, a companion app I built for all WTSDA students. With it you can create a profile for each student in your family, and access a smart library of content suitable for each student. Its not a replacement for the gup manual, but it does offer a set of tools to compliment your practice of tang soo do.
