Winter Closure, 2025 Events

Please note that eligibility for black belt testing includes participation in tournaments, clinics, judging certification, and dan camps.
The Sunnyvale Clinic on Feb 1 is open to all gup and dan students. We’ll gather with other Region 1 studios and receive training from several senior instructors.
For the weekend of March 22nd-23rd, Dan Camp takes on a new form. Red, blue, and black belts will travel to Fortuna CA for an exciting weekend filled training clinics with masters, as well as social events in the evenings.
Then a month later, the annual Region 1 Tournament is April 25th-27th, again in Fortuna CA. There is a black belt test on the Friday evening, and our very own Sage Burgner will be hitting the testing floor to earn her black belt. Saturday will be the tournament itself, and Sunday morning will likely offer clinics with masters.
Let’s organize carpools to these various local events! Please email me if you can offer spots in your car, or are looking to ride up with someone.
WTSDA U.S. Nationals is August 1st-3rd in Daytona Beach, Florida. I know this one is a stretch, but seeing our larger WTSDA family from across the country feels great!
And finally, Region 1 will have another black belt test and tournament in the fall in PNW (dates still TBD), and Region 20 has its annual tournament in October in sunny San Diego.
